The Hangover Preview/Review Round Up - and the Most Insane Vegas Movies

The latest Vegas bachelor party movie has been getting impressive reviews and was just edged out by Disney’s ‘Up’ for #1 at the box office this weekend. Did the “Old School” director serve up another classic? Here’s our round up of reviews and previews.

Red Band R-rated Trailer

We’ll Drink To That! The Fun’s Well Worth The Hangover - NY Post

“The Hangover” rumbles down the Strip like an elephant in heat. “Memento” meets “Old School”? It’s party time….

Raunchy frat comedies are as hard to pull off as any other kind because they have to keep surprising the audience, and “The Hangover” does with a bizarre series of uproarious situations with explanations that just about stay within the bounds of plausibility.

“Old School” headmaster Todd Phillips this time directs Bradley Cooper (a tool in “Wedding Crashers”), Ed Helms (”The Office”) and Zach Galifianakis as three groomsmen who lose their groom during a Vegas bachelor party…. The locker room humor is dead-on, full of affectionate hostility and caustic R-rated put-downs. [read more]

The Hangover - Rolling Stone

Could this movie about a bachelor party actually leave out the party? It could. And we’re all the better for it. To watch these hungover guys — they’ve actually been drugged — struggle awake in a trashed Vegas suite featuring a burning couch, a crying baby, a sizzling stripper (Heather Graham, good to see you), a live chicken and a Bengal tiger owned by Mike Tyson is, well, a sight gag for the time capsule. I couldn’t help laughing. Fellow critics (though the hypocrites might deny it) laughed too. Funny? The Hangover rocks the house with funny. [read more]

The Hangover - Salon

A bachelor party gone haywire, an anxious bride and Zach Galifianakis add up to a wickedly funny buddy movie.

“The Hangover” is a story told in multiple layers of details — a hospital wristband, a “borrowed” police car, a missing tooth — that trigger massive nonrecollections in the heads of the befuddled protagonists. Their ineptitude both endears them to us and makes us a little nuts, but I can’t imagine anyone walking out of “The Hangover” before they find out exactly how that tiger got into the bathroom. THE MOST INSANE VEGAS MOVIES

As a movie setting, Las Vegas gives a filmmaker license to do whatever the hell he wants. Which means that the “Vegas movie” has birthed a legion of wacky, outlandish, and mind-bogglingly over-the-top moments. The Hangover, the subgenre’s latest proud inductee (out today), does not disappoint: Missing teeth! Tigers! Mike Tyson air drumming to “Something in the Air” “In the Air Tonight”! (And that’s all before you get to the credits.) Here are ten of our other favorite insane Vegas-movie moments.

I saw the Hangover last night. This movie had my friend and I laughing from the beginning through the ending credits! It was a a gut-bursting comedy about partying in Vegas. As the characters were diverse, the movie was collaboratively funny. Awesome movie, funniest I have seen so far!!! Our faces were so tired from laughing at the end of the night.
